Orange Sherbet
Creamy homemade orange sherbet, using fresh squeezed orange juice. A refreshing frozen Summer dessert!
Who else is counting down the weeks or days until school starts back up? I’ve had a nice Summer break but I’m definitely ready for school to start back up. A mere three weeks, roughly, until school starts up again here. And the kids are excited too, so that’s a plus! It’ll be good for everyone! When does school start in your area?
I’ve gone overboard in previous years with supplies when they were on sale, so I’m pretty sure we’re set for this year. I’m sure I’ll splurge on some supplies anyway when the deals are amazing…75% at Target. Yeah, I can wait for that. That’s how I managed to end up with a giant stack of lined paper that isn’t anywhere near dwindling yet. Unfortunately new lunch bags and a backpack were needed. How is it that kids manage to ruin lunch bags in a single year? Hopefully the new ones last a little longer.
And even though Summer break is coming to an end, that doesn’t mean delicious ice cream flavors are over. Because… ice cream is an every season treat!
Growing up I always loved getting orange sherbet from the local ice cream stands, in a cone and totally covered in chocolate sprinkles. Pretty much like THIS. One of my favorites, so I had to recreate it at home.
A simple homemade creamy orange sherbet ice cream made with freshly squeezed orange juice and topped off with a few chocolate sprinkles for memory sake. If you love orange flavored treats as much as I do, then you’ll love this homemade orange sherbet! Easy to make and delicious to eat!

Looks so refreshing! My son starts school in four weeks, although I look forward to it, I try not to show that in front of him :) … I love the taste of orange in ice cream it’s refreshing and soothing too. Will try your recipe coming weekend.

Thanks Angelyn! :)
This looks sooo good, I love orange sherbet! Your blog alone has convinced me that I NEED to get an ice cream maker next year when they are actually in stores again. So many amazing ice cream recipes that I want to try! Oh, and my kids don’t start school till Sept, after the long weekend. Our summer is only half over!
You definitely need to pick one up! I couldn’t live without mine :) Enjoy the rest of your Summer break!
Refreshing and delicious!
Thanks Medeja!
This orange sherbet will come in hand this Friday in Buffalo. My buddy and I are bringing down a large tree that got hit by lightning and work up quite the sweat. I’m sure my wife would love to cool us down with this sherbet. Looks delicious!
Thanks Tom! I hope you enjoy it! And safe chopping this weekend :)
This definitely does look super refreshing! I can see myself hanging out at home and eating a bowl of this! Or even out on the porch in the sun to get some color ;)
Yes! A perfect treat to relax with :)
I am just pleased as punch, so to speak, about this recipe. Thanks. It sounds like “that’s the ticket”. We here are both happy as clams at high-tide.
Thanks Gregory!
If you really want to share recipes, then why do you disallow copying and pasting? I don’t print recipes; I must use them electronically on a tablet because of handicaps, so they are pasted on a 4 x 6 card and uploaded to Dropbox. Anyone can simply type it out, so you’re not keeping people from having it; just keeping them from having it in a needed format.
Yes, things can be rewritten or typed out by hand. However, this has more to do with theft on the internet and misuse more than for personal use, as you’re mentioning.
This recipe looks great! I just got an ice cream maker and have been checking out recipes. Is it ok to use regular orange juice in this recipe? Also, do you know about how much it makes? Thanks so much :)
Yes, regular orange juice is fine. My ice cream maker yields a maximum of 1 1/2 quarts. So, it’s somewhere between 1 and 1 1/2 quarts.
Can this be made with Almond Milk or some other dairy substitute? I’m trying to find a really yummy, creamy treat that my husband can enjoy as he is lactose intolerant.
I like using coconut milk to make dairy free treats. However, there are great lactose free options you could definitely try. Also, I have two ice cream recipes that are specifically designed to be dairy free: coconut coffee ice cream and strawberry coconut milk ice cream. Good luck and enjoy! :)
Thanks Rachel! We did go ahead and try the orange sherbet with coconut milk and it was delicious. We’ll be making that again, and thanks for the suggestion. Can’t wait to try the strawberry ice cream!
So glad you enjoyed it! I hope you love the others just as much. :)
Your recipe says to add zest but it’s not included in ingredient list as to the quanity.
Zest of one orange is listed in the ingredients.
