Are you still trying to decide what to make with that delicious golden bird? I know some people have things pinned down weeks, maybe even months ahead. That’s probably a small percentage of us though, right? I almost always debate over something up until the last minute. I keep wondering if I should add something else. Are there enough varieties or maybe there just isn’t quite enough in general. I’m like this in all areas of my life too. I’m ridiculously indecisive. Continue Reading

Garlic Bread

I love bread. I don’t care if it’s technically not awesome for you. It’s yummy, especially slathered in butter. I’d happily eat that as a snack, or an occasional meal when I don’t want something big. Give me two, or an occasional three nice slices of Italian bread and coat that sucker up in butter. Don’t skimp out. Outside of the bread being super soft and fresh (homemade or not), the next most important part is the butter.

Sometimes you want something different and that’s when garlic bread is perfect. A little something extra added to the already perfect snack or side… or meal. This is one of those times it’s totally okay to change the already perfect item. Because yes, bread and butter is perfect but this dresses it up. And it’s shockingly easy! Continue Reading

If there is one thing you should know about my vegetable choices, it’s that I love potatoes. I’m not a huge veggie eater. I’d much rather sit down with a bowl of fruit or a platter of bacon. One extreme to the other, yes I know, but they’re both so good. However, when it comes to potatoes I’ll eat them in almost any form. Fried, baked, mashed, grilled - they’re all equally tasty.

Some days I question if our oldest is really mine. Of course I know she is, but this child will not eat mashed potatoes! It baffles me. Who doesn’t love mashed potatoes? It’s a sin, right? Her younger sister is definitely mine, she loves mashed potatoes and will eat them by the handful… okay that’s because she’s not using utensils on her own yet but you get the point. Continue Reading

Garlic Knots

Being January, most people really don’t want to hear about or see sweets. As much as I’m protesting making and sharing healthier dishes, I will at least hold off on making and sharing any desserts for a while. Well, maybe just this week. I’ve been really wanting some cookies or chocolate lately and I still need to find the perfect brownie recipe. I’m on a quest to find the right fudgy recipe this year.

In the meantime, I needed and wanted to come up with something else new to make this week. After much searching through my bookmarked recipes, I decided on Annie’s garlic knots. It’s a pretty quick dough to whip up but does require regular rising time, so plan for several hours – most of which is down time. The dough itself is beyond easy to work with. I was very impressed with how well it rolled. I  had to make a slight change along the way because I didn’t have Italian seasoning for topping, but what I put together worked out perfect.
