Making a list of my favorite recipes of the year was no small task, especially when narrowing down from over 100 recipes. How do you even begin to choose what ones should make the list? As I’d sit and think about what ones I really love, more would get added to the list. They’re a mix of old favorites and fun experiments. Most of these have been made time and time again, proving to be a personal or family favorite. Others are more specialty items but still have a special place in my heart… and of course belly.

In no particular order, these are my favorites sweets from 2010 that didn’t make the reader favorites list. Check back tomorrow for some more favorites!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
These have been a favorite of mine for a while and for good reason. They’re thick and just the right amount of moist. A great thing about these is not only are they super easy to whip up but you can change the add-in items to your liking. I’ve been known on occasion to put apples and craisins in the mix instead of raisins. Amazing. If you’re still looking for a perfect oatmeal cookie recipe – this one is hands down the best I’ve ever had.

Blondie Brownies
My aunt gave me this recipe years back and it’s still one of my favorites. Definitely an oldie but a goodie. If you haven’t ever had a blondie, you need to asap! It’s a combination of brownie and chocolate chip cookie. Baked in a 9×13 pan you’ll get the right thickness which in turn will give you the most wonderful soft and gooey interior. Days later, pop a square in the microwave to soften up. These are seriously hard to resist and don’t last long around here.

Apple Pie
This is hands down the only apple pie recipe you ever need. I have a slight obsession with it and tend to go overboard making pie after pie when apples are in season. I can’t resist this pie and have a very hard time sharing it. Just ask the Mr. Layers of soft apples, generously sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar over a flaky crust – heaven!

Homemade Peanut Butter Cups
I had no idea how easy homemade pb cups were until I tried this. If you love Reese’s then you need to make your own. It’s fun and beyond simple. Very few ingredients and tools are required, which is a big plus. These can be kept simple or dressed up for any number of occasions. And trust me, the taste will have you going back for more again… and again.

World Peace Cookies
After some nudging, I finally made these devilish little cookies. They’re not your average chocolate cookie but the final results are to die for. As the story goes… these could bring world peace. Now I’m not sure I’d go that far, but they’re pretty darn good. Straight out of the oven they taste like brownie cookies. Any chocolate lover will want these by the handful.

Apple Cranberry Squares
This is a new favorite. If you love cranberries, it’s a must try. The filling is a mixture of a tart cranberry sauce and chopped apples, which is spread over an oatmeal crust. It comes pretty darn close to my love of apple pie. The great thing about this is that it’s festive enough for any gathering throughout fall or winter!

Butterfly Cupcakes – a tutorial
I made these cupcakes for a special third birthday. They were a huge hit and totally delicious. The butterflies are a bit time consuming but overall fun to make and will absolutely be memorable. My only problem now is how to top these next year!

Perfect White Cupcakes
This is hands down my go to white cupcake recipe. After trying a few, this one is by far the winner. Try this and you’ll never go back to white box cake mix again. Simple, moist and absolutely perfect.
