Soft and chewy homemade blondie bars, studded with chocolate chips and rainbow sprinkles.
I’m not really a big fan of birthdays. Or at least my own. But since my oldest has been saying I’m 26… well, happy 27th birthday to me (tomorrow). I’ll tell you a little secret… I’m not really 26. But that can be our little secret, right?
I’d like to think the reason I don’t enjoy birthdays is the idea of growing old and my fears that go along with that. Missing things in the future. I’m sure I’m not alone there. And I certainly don’t want to live forever because that would be kind of weird and creepy. Have you ever noticed how vampires in shows are rarely over the age range of 20-30? Sure, in some of the movies the ancient vampires are really old but everyone else is young, turned in their prime. If I’m going to be a vampire, we’ll need to find a time machine first. Mk?
Moving past getting old and vampires… because that’s not very festive of me…
I wanted to celebrate with sprinkles. Because sprinkles scream happiness and parties to me. They were made to make people happy… like puppies, kittens, flowers and balloons. Speaking of which… I might totally treat myself to a colorful bouquet. I kept avoiding bringing flowers into the house because I suspected at least one of our cats would find them to be a great snack. After buying a cheap bouquet of flowers a few weeks ago, I may have proved that theory wrong but another trial will have to take place to be sure. Maybe they prefer ribbon, plastic bags and toilet paper over flowers? Who knows! Our cats are weird so it’s totally possible.
Anyway… sprinkles! These bars are seriously the best chocolate chip blondie bars I’ve ever had. The perfect level of soft and chewy, paired with lots of semi-sweet chocolate chips and not to be forgotten… rainbow sprinkles! Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, that the sun is finally out, or just because the day ends in Y… you need these in your life. They’re quick to mix up and quick to bake! I bet you even have all of the ingredients on hand needed to make them right now!
