Whole Wheat Oatmeal Banana Bread

A healthier banana bread recipe, using whole wheat flour and old fashioned oatmeal! The perfect breakfast or snack bread!

Whole Wheat Oatmeal Banana Bread Recipe from bakedbyrachel.com

I’ve been sitting on this recipe for a while, waiting for the best time to share it. Given that today is national banana bread day, it seems fitting to finally share it. It’s kind of weird there are so many food holidays. And obviously they’re not real holidays but just fun excuses to celebrate something. There’s seriously one for everything. Even recently… national drink wine day which clearly so many of you were thankful for the reminder shared to Instagram and Facebook. I need to find out if there’s an ‘eat cookie dough’ or ‘eat a cookie’ day because those would be right up there at the top of my favorites, at least this week.

But this bread… it’s perfect for today. Why? Besides the fact that today is national banana bread day, which means you should totally be celebrating and whipping up a loaf today or this week and enjoying for breakfast and snack… Because it’s a healthier banana bread, using whole wheat flour and oatmeal!

It’s a fun change-up from the usual. Seriously, it vanished here. Super flavorful and easy to make. No special equipment is required to prepare this, just a bowl and a spoon or whisk. So what are you waiting for? You need this healthier whole wheat oatmeal banana bread in your life asap.

What a great healthy change to banana bread. Glad I’m not the only one observing today’s holiday :-) I sadly didn’t drink any wine on National drink wine day – but I did have beer.

Why do I never know about these random holidays? It’s like everyone else has a special calendar that I know nothing about!

This bread looks fabulous for any day of the year! Can wait to try it out! Love the use of applesauce.

I am all for an eat cookie dough day. I made banana bread last weekend. I am going to say I was ahead of the game on that one. Your oatmeal loaf looks gorgeous!

I LOVE that this is whole wheat and has oatmeal! My hubby is way obsessed with banana bread so I always need new ways to switch it up. He has this weird phobia of eating ANYTHING twice. Too bad he’s married to food blogger who tests recipes 1 billion times ;)

This bread is in my oven right now! I’m allergic to apples so I used coconut oil instead and used half brown sugar. I licked the bowl clean and am excited for my finished product!
