Enchilada Sauce

Easy homemade enchilada sauce, perfect for all of your favorite Mexican dishes!

  • 1 C chicken broth
  • 2 Tb all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 Tb chili powder


  • Whisk together all ingredients in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, whisking occasionally until thickened, roughly 5-8 minutes. 
  • Use immediately or cover and chill for future use. For best results, press plastic wrap to the surface to prevent a skin from forming.
