Slice French bread in half lengthwise to create to long halves. Brush freshly sliced side of bread with butter. Bake until just golden, broiling if necessary. Be careful not to burn.
Spoon 2-3 Tbsp barbecue sauce per bread halve.
Toss shredded chicken with salt, pepper and cayenne. Coat with 1/4 cup barbecue sauce. Divide between bread halves. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake until cheese if fully melted, broiling if desired.
Slice and enjoy warm.
