Spicy Slow Cooker Chicken Wonton Tacos

Crisp wonton tacos with spicy slow cooker shredded chicken. A delicious party appetizer or meal.

  • 1 chicken breast
  • 3/4 C chicken broth
  • 3/4 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 10-15 wonton wrappers
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Optional filling ingredients: lettuce cheese, tomatoes, jalapenos, sour cream


  • Place trimmed chicken breast, chicken broth and seasonings in the bowl of a small slow cooker. Cook on low for 4 hours. Shred chicken at the two hour mark, return to slow cooker.
  • Coat the bottom of a medium skillet with vegetable oil. Heat over medium heat until hot. Place half of one wonton wrapper over the end of a nylon spatula, pressing the lower half into the oil to fry for 15-30 seconds. Grab cooked portion with tongs, flipping and cooking the other half of the wonton wrapper for 15-30 seconds or until crisp. Drain on paper towels. Repeat with remaining wrappers.
  • Fill fried wontons with spicy shredded chicken and additional optional fillings. Enjoy warm.
