1/4Call purpose flour
2Cchicken brothor vegetable broth for a vegetarian option
1/4tspground black pepper
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour to melted butter. Add broth, stirring frequently with a wooden spoon. When mixture begins to bubble, cook 1 minute longer. Remove from heat, stir in seasonings. Serve immediately or transfer to a clean bowl, cooling for 5-10 minutes before covering with plastic wrap pressed to the service. Keep stored in refrigerator for up to several days. Warm as needed prior to serving.
