Guinness Chocolate Cupcakes with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting
Rich and moist Guinness chocolate cupcakes, topped off with a sweet cinnamon cream cheese frosting. Perfect for St Patrick’s day celebrations.
Happy March! It’s funny how people say that at the beginning of many months. I’m pretty sure no one says happy February or January though. The worst two months of the year. Why welcome them with happy and open arms. I’d rather fast forward and skip right on over the brutal weeks of Winter.
But March… well, even if the saying goes ‘in like a lion, out like a lamb’ that won’t stop me from loving March. It means many things, from birthdays, to the beginning of Spring (only 20 more days to go!!) and thus obviously the end of Winter, and celebrations of all kinds… sports, holidays etc. It’s definitely worth being happy about and welcoming with open arms. Thankfully we’re not kicking things off with a major storm. It’s turning into a dud for us here but yes, there are still two more weeks of Winter and up here we’ve even had April Fool’s Day storms so… not holding my breath until the birds are chirping and the grass is green.
Until then, we can totally celebrate St Patrick’s day in all of it’s glory. Green, chocolate, minty things, beer everything, potatoes! You get the idea.
I made a version of these cupcakes years ago and wanted to redo them. Make a smaller batch and just generally play around with the recipe – tweaking it if you will.
If you’re looking for a fun holiday cupcake to whip up for yourself or friends, these are definitely the ones you want. Not only are these chocolate Guinness cupcakes moist but they’re super flavorful. You can whip these up by hand or in a mixer, your call. I don’t want to take the stage away from the cupcakes but I completely loved this frosting. It’s so creamy and has just the right amount of sweetness. The cinnamon really compliments the chocolate cupcakes so well. These cupcakes are definitely a must make!

We have birds chirping here on sunny days and I seriously think they’re mistaking the sun for spring/summer. They should crawl back into hibernation or something, lol…ugh I completely forgot about St. Patty’s Day. Oops. I don’t remember holidays that I don’t get the day off for anymore, LOL I live by my work calendar sometimes. Super cute cupcakes!! I love the bottle cap on top for decoration – so clever!!
And I sometimes live by your calendar to know about holidays too ;)
Yes hello march! I can not believe February is finally over! It’s still pretty cold here on the east coast, but like you said hopefully by end of march the weather will be nice and spriny!!

Even though March isn’t quite spring weather I’m so glad we finally made it… I’m ready for winter to be over! Oh, and I’ll take a few of these:-)
And maybe we can somehow trick mother nature into letting us have an extended spring-fall this year? Wishful thinking I’m sure.
Boozy chocolate cupcakes. Say no more, my friend. Say no more!!
Haha! I’m glad you approve ;)
Cinnamon paired with Guinness, I’m liking it!

I’m so excited that March is here too!! Goodbye winter, hello spring! Although, like you, we’ve had our share of late season snow. But still, spring will be here soon!! These cupcakes are definitely the best way to celebrate Saint Patty’s Day!! Pinned!

I love the combination of chocolate and cinnamon, so I bet the addition of Guinness makes these even better. I can almost taste the deepness. I can’t wait to try these.
Thanks Renee. Enjoy!! :)
These look amazing! I hope you don’t mind me linking you in my latest post :)
Whoa, but, these are fan-freaking-tastic. I made them tonight and I swear, these are the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. Thanks!
So glad to hear it! Thanks for sharing :)
I just made these a few hours ago.the cupcake itself was tasty but the frosting came out really thin with chunks of butter or cream cheese. I used the right amount of everything so I’m not sure what happened. Did I not mix it well? Thank you for the recipe though. I’ll try again another day.
It sounds as though you didn’t beat your cream cheese until completely smooth. As for it being thin, you can always add additional powdered sugar if you run into that issue.
Thank you for this recipe! I made it for my hubsand’s birthday as Guiness is his favorite beer and everyone loved it. Very rich tasting cupcake and a perfect frosting to go with it. I will definitely be making this again along with along with a few others of yours I have already tried.
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing :)
Loved the cupcakes! Absolutely delicious combination. I doubled the cupcake portion and left icing the same. Had to pile on the icing which I’m not used to doing but was yummy!
So glad you enjoyed them!
