Pumpkin Apple Bread
Moist spiced pumpkin bread with tender apples throughout. A perfect loaf for breakfast, snack or dessert!
I’ve held off on posting anything pumpkin for as long as I possibly could. This year I’ve been itching to share some fun new pumpkin recipes. Of course, that doesn’t mean this is the end of apple recipes. That would be crazy talk!
I’ve still yet to make an official trip to the apple farm. I’ve been holding out, waiting for my favorite apple to be available… Cortlands! They just became available this weekend, so I see a trip to my favorite local apple farm in my very near future.
Normally I’d hold out till October to share anything pumpkin. And honestly, I try to wait until then to even make anything pumpkin, but I’ll let you in on a little secret… I’ve been craving pumpkin goodies. And it hasn’t just been recently either. There was a moment in the middle of the summer where I wanted to make something with pumpkin. I had cans and was seriously tempted, but resisted. I just couldn’t do it! I’m a stickler for seasons.
This bread is an absolute must. I’ll get that out there right now.
It’s simple and of course, very tasty!
My girls requested slices to go in their lunch boxes to school the week I made this. Everyone was in love.
Super moist and flavorful spiced pumpkin bread with sweet apple chunks throughout. It’s perfect for breakfast, snack or dessert!
A truly delicious Fall bread!

- 1 3/4 C all purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

- Transfer batter to prepared loaf pan. Bake for 60-65 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 190°F.
- Allow to cool in pan for 5-10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack.
- Slice and enjoy. Store remaining bread in an airtight container for up to a week.
Gorgeous loaf! You combined my favorite of late: pumpkin and apples! Pinned!
Thanks so much Anna!
Perfect bread for autumn! Double goodness! :)
Thank you! :)
I love the apple chunks in this. I’m always looking for new quick bread recipes and this captures all the flavors of fall perfectly!
Quick breads are the best! Less work is always a big bonus :)
I’ve never made apple bread and I now want to make this for my apple picking party. I am sooo happy right now. I am loving this idea :)
Let me know if you do! :)
Now if this doesn’t scream fall then I don’t know what does!
Thanks Steph!
The perfect combo- apples and pumpkin! Brilliant :)
Thanks Lexi!
Oh my goodness – I made a pumpkin apple bread the day I went into labor with my daughter more than 5 years ago and I have been dying to make it again since most of it went to waste while we were at the hospital. I need this in my life!! (And I just pulled out the pumpkin last week for a savory recipe – I need to get baking!)
It’s a sign! You have to make some this week :)
This bread, is the complete definition of fall – all wrapped up in a beautiful, spiced, loaf <3
Thanks Sharana!
I absolutely adore Cortland apples, but I haven’t been able to find one since we moved back west (um, 15 years…major withdrawal). This bread has everything good about fall all wrapped in one package.
You should plan a trip to visit in the Fall for leaf peeping and apple picking!
The apple orchard we go picking at just started picking Cortlands…although they only pick for about a week, and I’m sure we won’t get there in time. I think I need to though cause this pumpkin bread is genius with apples inside!!
Definitely make a trip and grab some while they’re still available!
Pumpkin apple bread.. great combination of flavors!
Thanks Ilona!
I don’t know why I’ve never thought of apple + pumpkin in the same loaf! It’s perfect.
It’s a delicious combination :)
Yum! This bread sounds awesome. I just made my first pumpkin recipes of the season today. Must make a bread soon!
Yes you must! :)
Pumpkin AND apple?! Now this is a combination I have got to try!

So glad you liked it! And yes, pumpkin and cranberries go amazing together! :)
I’ve never had a Cortland before! I don’t even know if my store sells it, but if I see them, I’m getting some to see what you like about them, haha – although, to be fair, I love all apples :) love this pumpkin and apple combo you’ve got going on! I need a loaf!
I love all apples too, just some way more than others ;)
I need to make this now! Love!
You do! :)
What a lovely looking loaf – such pretty pics!
Thanks Jessica!
The bread was yummy! I love cooking with pumpkin! I added a half cup of toasted walnuts and a half cup of raisins which added to the eating experience.
So glad you enjoyed it! :)
I had mid-summer pumpkin cravings too! I held out as long as I could, which was… The first few days of September. And then I caved. I’m so impressed you could wait this long! But this bread was definitely worth posting early — it looks so moist & cozy! Pinned!
I think I have 25 pounds of apples at home. I need apple-y recipes! This is perfect!!
Perfect!! :)
This was wonderful – thank you!!
So glad you enjoyed it!
What a great recipe! Would it work if I used coconut oil instead of butter you think? I am allergic to dairy but I am so keen to try this bread!
That would be something you’d have to give a try to find out, since I haven’t personally done it that way. Though typically swapping out butter for oil doesn’t always offer ideal results.
