Slow Cooker Roundup

If I’d known years ago how much I’d love using my slow cooker I’d have gotten one sooner. I’ve only had one for two years. I don’t use it weekly or even monthly most of the time but I have had a lot of fun making new recipes for my family. There’s been one or two along the way that didn’t make it on here. One in particular that started off as meatballs in sauce and turned into meat sauce. The meatballs didn’t hold together at all, except for a few stragglers. Thankfully The Mr likes meat sauce so all was okay, or mostly okay.

I promised ages back on Facebook that I’d put all of my slow cooker recipes in one handy location. I haven’t gotten that far outside of some albums used as a faux recipe index. A recipe index on the blog is one goal I have for 2012. I’ll get to it. I just need to do some planning and find the time to put it together. Stay tuned. I promise I’ll make it happen one way or another, hopefully in the not so distant future.

I figured in the meantime it’d be fun to have a bigger collection of shared slow cooker recipes from around the blogosphere. If you haven’t pulled your slow cooker out yet this year, pull it out and dust it off. It’s the season to use it! I hope you enjoy the assortment of recipes I’ve pulled together.

Do you have a favorite recipe to make in your slow cooker?

Yum! I want to try them all. I have an unhealthy relationship with my slow cooker. I give it lots of love for a few weeks then I push it to the side for a few months. It’s a bad cycle.

Don’t forget the red beans and rice?
Got a ham bone, don’t throw it out. Soak a package of red kidney beens overnight. but it in the slow cooker next day with the ham bone (and a good bit of ham left on the bone), cook forevery. you can add onions, bay leaf, drop of jelly if you like, but not necessary…it’s still good! throw it over rice or corn bread. Sprinkle with cajun seasoning if you wish
