Apple Cider Gravy
Easy make ahead dripless apple cider gravy. A flavorful addition to all of your holiday meals!
I always find it funny when childhood favorites come back in style and become popular again, whether it’s toys or clothes. My Little Pony’s to Cabbage Patch Dolls and so many other fun toys… if only I knew they’d become popular again, I could’ve saved mine! I half wish the temperature/color changing clothing would come back. I had one of those sweatshirts and it was kind of fun. I know my kids would get a kick out of that.
Of course in this case, it’s Where’s Waldo books. I still have mine from when I was little. They’re well loved and showing their age, torn pages and all. My kids love them. I was sure that there weren’t new ones… I should’ve known better. There are a bunch of new books! I feel like I need to get them all because it’s hours of fun… or torture, depending on how you look at it… trying to find a man in a sea of people and random scenes. I’m thinking the Santa Spectacular edition is a must buy, especially since Christmas is right around the corner.
Gravy is an essential item at the Thanksgiving dinner table. I like to change things up and try new versions just for fun and let me tell you… this one is definitely fun and packed full of Fall flavor!
Not only is this a super quick and simple gravy, requiring not a drop of turkey drippings, but you can also very easily make this vegetarian by swapping out the chicken broth for vegetable broth!
Want to save even more time on the big day? Make this ahead and reheat just before meal time!

Apple Cider Gravy….. COME ON!!! That’s brilliant! I love the extra flavor the apple gives to this. Perfect for my liking :) Go girl!
Thanks Taylor!
Oh do I remember cabbage patch dolls and my little ponies too. This gracy looks incredible. Great way to add flavor!
Thanks Kristen!
Looks delicious Rachel. We’re doing a kind of crazy thing this year. No turkey. I know. My brother had a really serious accident a few months ago, is in a wheelchair now, and we decided to cut down on stress and do some things a little different this year. We are however, having mashed potatoes and in need of a make-ahead gravy. Since we’re already going the non-traditional route, this gravy will be perfect! Anything with apple cider is a hit in my book.
I’m sorry to hear about your brother! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving together :)
Oh man what a good idea!! That looks fantastic. Pinned!
Thanks Natasha!
Gravy is definitly my most favorite part of Thanksgiving!
It’s a must for sure!
Cabbage Patch dolls, My Little Pony, and Where’s Waldo, man I wish I still had all those things I used to love playing with them! This gravy is genius! The color is perfect, silky smooth and I’m dying over the added cider in it!
Thanks so much Danae!
This looks awesome! I always make the traditional gravy but I think things are going to have to change. I’m with ya I would have saved my things too if I would have known. Oh well I guess!!
Thanks Malinda!
Oh man I had sooooooo many My Little Ponies. Apple Jack was my favorite :) I only had 1 Cabbage Patch Doll but then my grandmother went and made me like 5 more. Plus she would sew all my clothes for them too. Love the look of this gravy. It looks packed full of fall flavor and I bet it would be perfect for smothering Thanksgiving turkey :)
My mom made a bunch of clothes for my dolls too!
I LOVED Where’s Waldo when I was a kid! I recently learned from my husband (who’s British) that Waldo is called “Wally” in the UK!
I’ve never tried adding apple cider to gravy before, but the flavor sounds wonderful! Can’t wait to try it!
So funny he has a different name in the UK!
Hi Rachel – This looks so great and I love how simple it is! One question – if I wanted to make this dairy free, what would you recommend to use instead of butter? Thanks!
You could look into using a dairy free butter alternative or margarine. That would likely be your best bet for the same flavor and consistency.
