Soft and fluffy homemade garlic breadsticks. An easy and flavorful addition to any dinner!

My kids have been bugging me about going to Disney basically since they could talk. What kid doesn’t? It’s just never been the right time. There are so may factors that always seem to need to be perfect for a vacation to really work. I decided to start doing some research this weekend on Disney vacations and now my head is basically spinning.

It’s really overwhelming…do you stay on resort or off, dining package or not, is a hopper pass really necessary and so many other details. Not to mention that the rooms that are meant for any group/family over 4 aren’t always ideal and it also limits our choices to the more expensive hotels and resorts. Then there’s the matter of when to go. I found a nice crowd calendar that shows the best time to go if you’re looking to avoid crowds. Of course, those times are always when the kids are in school… but maybe it would still work. Have you done a Disney vacation recently? Did you plan it all out and book it yourself or did you enlist the help of a travel agent to get the best deals?

I had a nice girls day out with my mom this past weekend. We started our day out at Ikea. I had full intentions of buying bedroom furniture, but last minute measuring meant that got put on hold. The dresser I wanted, won’t fit where I had planned to put it. I have some measuring and thinking to do before making a purchase. So, I left with a colander and a towel. A cheap but fun trip. And… I may have changed my mind on the wall color for our room. A trip to Home Depot is definitely in my future…

If you know me, you know I’m carb obsessed. I love bread. All bread. Any bread. Especially amazing bread. I love making bread, but especially eating bread. It’s fun to knead and shape, but the aromas and the final taste are really what make it all worth it.

I needed a nice everyday roll. Something simple, easy to whip up and crowd pleasing. These rolls are just that. Ridiculously easy, super simple, packed full of flavor and definitely crowd pleasing. My family loved these rolls. I had a similar version growing up. The smells, the fluffy texture, the flavor… it all took me back to my childhood, to family dinners.

These are hands down the absolute best soft and fluffy homemade garlic breadsticks you’ll ever have. They need to be part of your dinner plans asap! I promise, you won’t regret it. Just be sure to grab an extra breadstick before they disappear, because they will. They’re just that good!

Soft Garlic Breadsticks

Soft and fluffy homemade garlic breadsticks. An easy and flavorful addition to any dinner!
Prep Time2 hours 5 minutes
Cook Time12 minutes
Total Time2 hours 20 minutes
Course: Bread
Cuisine: American
Servings: 12 breadsticks

Ingredients

  • 1 C water
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1/4 C unsalted butter melted
  • 3 C all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt

Topping:

  • 3 Tb unsalted butter melted
  • garlic salt

Instructions

  • Heat water to 115°F. Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Allow to proof for 5-10 minutes.
  • If using a stand mixer, prepare with a dough hook attachment. Combine flour and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer. With mixer running on low, add melted butter and yeast mixture. Increase speed, mixing until dough comes together and forms a ball. Transfer to a large greased bowl. Cover and allow to rise for 60-90 minutes or until doubled in size.
  • Prepare 2 baking sheets with silicone baking mats. On a silicone work station, divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Keep dough covered with a clean towel when not rolling. Roll one piece at a time into a 7-inch log. Place on a baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough. Each baking sheet should only have 6 pieces of dough each. Cover and rise in a warm location for an additional 60-90 minutes or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Bake for 12 minutes.
  • Working on one roll at a time, immediately brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt. Repeat with remaining rolls.
  • Serve warm.
  • Store remaining breadsticks in an airtight container, reheating as desired.

Notes

*Alternatively, dough may be mixed by hand.

I am not a huge bread person – though I make an exception for Olive garden breadsticks, and Rachel, your garlicky breadsticks look better that O.G.’s!
BTW – good luck with your vacation planning! Reminds me of when I took my daughter to Disney about 9 years ago – bet a lot has changed since!

What’s funny is that I’ve never been to or had Olive Garden breadsticks, so I can’t compare these to them. But these are ridiculously good. My new favorite by far! :) And thank you!!

I’m assuming you mean Disney World. The best time to go is the first week or maybe the second week of December. Kids didn’t miss much in school but yours may have sports. We also went the first week of January arriving on Jan. 1. Weather is usually perfect! Crowds lighter than other times and the parks are still decorated for Christmas. We stayed on the property and used their buses to move around the parks. We have 2 boys so had a room with 2 queens and they made due. I had each day planned as to what we saw/rode on, alternatives and where we would eat. Less decision making when hungry. Also the kids liked knowing the plan ahead of time and seemed much happier because they had already had their input. Get a couple of the travel books and study them!

Yes, Disney World. I often forget about Disney Land since it’s so far away! Thanks for all of the info and advice! I definitely have quite a bit of planning ahead of me!

The logistics kind of make my head spin. I might just go through a travel agent who specializes in Disney trips to make it easier! And thank you!!
