Apple Cider Barbecue Sauce
Sweet and spicy apple cider barbecue sauce. A perfect addition to chicken, pork, pizza and so much more!
We’re still in the midst of our NCIS catchup game. It’s kind of crazy how much we still have to watch. And, only getting to watch 2-3 a night means we’ll be at this for a while. It’s been fun starting from the beginning. When we were previously watching it, we started at some point a season or more in. Then, randomly caught older episodes during weekend marathons. But now, we’re able to really get to know the characters, their quirks and how they knew each other before. I love how they’re always trying to tie past episodes into the current ones with flashbacks or little comments here and there.
Totally unrelated, but I added a new Pandora station to my lineup not too long ago. You might laugh, but… it’s the Milli Vanilli station and it’s seriously super fun. It happened because I wanted to hear Blame It On The Rain. And yes, it was definitely raining when this all came to mind. It has so many flashback songs from the late 80’s and early 90’s. A must add.
I’m still partly in shock that it’s September. A full week in and past Labor Day even. I’m not complaining though. It is my favorite time of the year! I probably dream about it all year long… not literally of course… or at least not that I remember. I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if it turned out I had been dreaming about apples, colorful leaves etc.
Living in the northeast, we’re lucky enough to be able to get apple cider year round. But, I know for others it’s just coming into season.
This apple cider barbecue sauce is the perfect way to welcome Fall, while still enjoying the last few weeks of Summer. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. An amazing addition to all of your favorite cuts of meat, pizza and so much more. It can be used on just about anything!
Big bonus, since this barbecue sauce is from scratch, you can completely adjust the level of heat to your liking! If you like it super spicy, kick it up a notch. Or, go the other way and downplay the spices for a sweeter sauce. Either way you make it, you’ll be in heaven with this homemade apple cider barbecue sauce!
PS… you’ll need this recipe for something later in the week. Just a little something to look forward to!

I definitely need to get that station on my Pandora! I’m all about jamming to some fun tunes while I get my cooking on!
And this sauce. I want to slather it on my FACE. BBQ Sauce is my jam and the apple-fall-goodness is perfect! Pinned!
You absolutely need that station in your life… and this bbq sauce ;)
This is the kind of sauce I’d eat with a spoon.
Also, where did August go and how is it a week into September already!?
It seriously flew by!
Oh my gosh, we just started NCIS from the beginning last week. We’re about 10 episodes in (maybe more). LOVE IT. My oldest daughter wants to be a forensic photographer, so we’ve got her watching it too :) And this sauce…love another use for apple cider :)
At least we both know there is no end in sight with the show, especially since a new season is starting up soon! So much watching to do. ;)
I feel like apple cider and BBQ sauce is the perfect combination for fall!
It truly is!
Oh I have to show my husband this – we love our barbecue sauce and are always looking for new recipes to try.
I hope you both love it! :)
Nice, thank you. I put all the ingredients in a glass measuring cup. Microwaved for 1.25, stir, repeat. Sauce. I was going to use a packaged sauce, until
, I noticed the date expired. Knew that I could fnd something n Pinterest! Thanks, Pinterest.
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Jill. Thanks for sharing!
oh. my. goodness! Made this yesterday and then let my cooked chicken breasts simmer in it and shredded it. I could eat this sauce alone with a spoon.
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it so much, Michele! Thanks for sharing :)
Quite good! Wish I’d thickened it a tad less since it thickens on standing, but that’s on me. Looking forward to putting this on pork chops!
So glad you enjoyed it, Liz!
Can this BBQ sauce be canned ?
I haven’t personally canned it but it should work well. It would also freeze well.
