Chocolate Coffee Ice Cream
Creamy homemade coffee ice cream with a chocolate twist! Tastes like your favorite coffee shop frozen drink!
We typically don’t go to the movies too much since it can be so costly, especially for a family, but last weekend we made a special trip to see Inside Out. I’m probably in the minority that wasn’t totally over the moon in love with it, but it was cute and still fun. I think I just expected there to be more to it. Still cute and full of meaning though.
The last time I went to the movies at this particular theater was when Julie came to visit… last Fall. See… I don’t go to the movies much. When we were there, they were undergoing a major renovation. The renovations actually interrupted our visit, setting off fire alarms. But, at least it wasn’t in the middle of the movie… it definitely could have been worse! It was nice to finally see all of the changes in person.
Finally a local theater that offers reserved seating! That’s honestly probably my favorite part… next to the super comfy reclining leather seats. Such a nice feature! I’m already starting to think about our next visit, partly because of the features mentioned and partly because it’s Summer vacation but also… the Minions movie looks super cute. Have you seen it yet? I have high hopes for it being as good or better than the Despicable Me movies.
And, because it’s raging hot outside lately, you definitely need a scoop or two of this creamy chocolate coffee ice cream. Call it mocha, call if chocolate coffee or just plain delicious – I don’t care what you call it, as long as you enjoy a scoop!
This is by far my favorite chocolatey ice cream to date – both homemade and store bought! It’s so smooth and packed with flavor… even the kiddos loved it!
I highly recommend pairing this with a cone and maybe some sprinkles for fun. Because, why not?!
This super creamy homemade chocolate coffee ice cream is an absolute must make this summer!

Movies are RIDICULOUS with how pricey they are!! We rarely go–and we would all be happier with a bowl of this ice cream then a trip to the theater!
I almost always try to go to a matinee to save some on the ticket price. It helps but is still pricey overall.
Did you say reserved seating at the movie theater?!? How amazing is that! Almost as amazing as this ice cream! Love that shot of it dripping down the cone!
Thanks so much Lindsey!
I need this ice cream now & forever!!
You definitely do! :)

We haven’t seen Inside Out yet but my son is dying to see the new Minions movie! Reserved seating sounds awesome!!! And so does this ice cream. I can’t get enough of ice cream lately and can’t wait to try this chocolate coffee combo! It looks incredible!

Two of my favourite flavours married together in ice cream heaven! Love this!!
Thanks Annie!
Reserved seating sounds awesome! We just went to see Jurassic World and I loved it. Part of me just likes any movie in the theater because of the popcorn ;) And you know I love this ice cream! Coffee ice cream is the best
The best popcorn! ;)
Great recipe! Love finding a way to use the coffee syrup I bought from TRader Joe’s! I added toasted almonds.
So glad you enjoyed it, Amy! Thanks for sharing! :)
What would be comparable substitutions for the coffee syrup? Instant dark coffee?
Coffee syrup has a thicker consistency than straight coffee so you’d need to purchase or make your own. If you’d like to make your own, you’ll need to combine equal parts sugar and strong liquid coffee in a saucepan, over medium heat. Bring to a low boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar and then simmer for roughly 20 minutes (give or take) until it has thickened. Be sure to continue stirring occasionally until your desired thickness is reached. It shouldn’t be a thicker liquid but not as thick as caramel or chocolate sauce. Hopefully that helps! Good luck. :)
Thanks so very much for the tip on substitute for coffee syrup! I’m trying this today! Enjoy your day! ❤️
