An easy recipe for moist homemade cinnamon apple butter bread. A perfect Fall quick-bread recipe, packed full of amazing flavors. Enjoy for breakfast or snack!

Here’s one of those statements we all probably hated or rolled our eyes at to some degree when we were little, depending on the content of course…. When I was younger… or, when I was your age…

It eventually always hits everyone though. We’re not little anymore. A phrase we use for comparison or to talk about way back when… yes… way back. But, really. When I was little, kids didn’t start sports super young and have to stick with them straight through school to have any chance at making a team. Soccer is heavily pushed around here starting at a very young age. If you stop for a year or two even in elementary school, your chances of catching up with your peers is slim, unless you’re just that amazing.

Most sports didn’t start until high school when I was younger. Field hockey, track or lacrosse for example… to name just a few. Now, the earlier you can start, the better off you are. I wish I had been able to start earlier with field hockey, perhaps I would’ve stuck it out even though the coaches were awful. Even with how much I loved playing, the drama and headaches from the coaches wasn’t worth it. Now, I get to live vicariously through my girls, happily playing their hearts out at much younger ages than when I played. We spent the better part of the weekend, immersed in field hockey. Between jamboree games, watching college games on tv and practicing skills with friends and sisters – it was a very field hockey filled weekend. And that’s on top of our daily field hockey fixes with regular games and practices.

Also… happy Fall! I couldn’t let that one slip by. It’s my favorite season of the year. This born and raised New England girl is completely Fall obsessed. It’s probably a safe bet that I’ve always loved Fall, but I love it even more now. Apple season, foliage, sports, cooler weather, cinnamon spice everything! It all makes me so happy. Of course, the weather isn’t quite Fall-like at the moment. We’re creeping up on 90°F today. Thankfully, it’s returning to normal temps tomorrow, but I’m ready for this warm spell to be over. I’m just not ready for Fall to fly by and snow to hit… I know that’s basically right around the corner.

So, now that it’s officially Fall, I hope you’re ready for all things apple flavored and very soon, (October!) pumpkin flavored.

I made this loaf a few weeks back to share with friends at a field hockey game. The slices disappeared fast! Between a hungry group of hungry kids and apple loving momma’s, we finished off the loaf in no time.

This super easy Fall quick-bread recipe is packed full of amazing apple and spices. A super moist homemade cinnamon apple butter bread, perfect for snacking or enjoying a slice for breakfast. Tips tricks and questions answered…

What is apple butter?
Apple butter is a super concentrated version of applesauce. It’s cooked longer, removing the excess liquid and causing it to become thicker and even more flavorful.

Where can I buy apple butter?
Most grocery stores or big box chains should carry it. The location in-store will vary. You can check near the jams or applesauce.

Can I make my own apple butter?
Yes! And I highly recommend it! Try either of these two recipes: small batch stovetop cinnamon apple butter or a larger batch recipe with canning instructions – slow cooker apple butter recipe.

Can I substitute applesauce?
I wouldn’t recommend it, as this recipe was written for and tested using apple butter. If you cannot find or don’t want to make apple butter from scratch. You can always cook down a jar of store bought apple butter. The proper consistency is similar to jam. It can sit on a spoon and not immediately slide off. There will also be no puddles of liquid in the apple butter at the correct consistency.

Can I change the spices or use apple pie spice instead?
Yes! Spices are easy to adjust and I highly recommend adjusting those to your personal taste preference.

Can I make substitutions to the ingredients?
Yes and no. A few have been mentioned above. You can typically substitute plain low-fat yogurt for sour cream. Beyond that, substitute or tweak at your own risk. If you’re familiar with substitutions, by all means, have fun. Keep in mind that this recipe works as written, any changes can potentially change the outcome of the final loaf.

How should I store loaf?
Slice and store in an airtight bag or container for up to several days. It can also be chilled to keep longer, or frozen.
